When I was young you held my hand,
Helped me learn to understand,
Listened when I needed you,
My hero, you know it’s true.
At times I’m sure I did things wrong,
But you could not stay mad for long,
You’d sit me down and help me learn
to show caring, love, concern.
It’s hard to know that you are gone,
I wonder how to carry on,
But when I’m lost I’ll think of you,
And then I’ll know just what to do.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
